argvee I also have no degree, and I remember in the 90s it was common to find people without CS degrees that wanted to build software. That changed with the dotcom boom, where the schools switched focus from Knuth to Java.Permalink On twitter.com

argvee The piece of paper is a good foot in the door but not everything you need to excel. Anecdotally at Amazon, 30% of principal engineers (L7) don’t have a CS degree, but compare that to less than 5% of L4s...On twitter.com
