ebrandwine This kind of double-speak can also be explained by selfish motivations. Leaders, especially, want the information from blunt conversations, but they feel like their status is threatened by the messengers.

ebrandwine That leads people to vocally encourage blunt behavior , but actually punish people silently.

ebrandwine and, of course, this exact behavior could be selective depending on gender. especially with unconscious biases.
