patkua rhein_wein Hmm, I didn’t mean to imply everyone was doing it, but at Microsoft in 1995, there weren’t any product managers that I remember (PM was program manager). But some devs were much more product / user oriented. And I think they often became leaders and role models.

patkua rhein_wein Maybe the best example I remember from that era was Thomas Reardon en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Reardon He was really a mind blowing dynamo of what was possible as a developer. Fingers in everything! He didn’t have a lane.
